Adventure in Your Own Backyard

Too many times we assume that the only real adventure is in a foreign place. Luckily we don't have to book a flight to see somewhere new. Of course their is nothing wrong with taking a trip over seas.... to a beach with fruity beverages! But the plan today is to convince you to enjoy where you are. Some of the best treasures are in our own backyard. I am a happy wanderer when I stumble upon a new park or a random lake. This helps me in so many ways from saving money to calming my wander crave for the moment.

So today I encourage you to take a trip to the lake, find a new hiking trail or enjoy a bike ride around the park. Find somewhere new and something fun to do!

My Cheap Travel Guide to New York

I am pleased to announce i’m dropping my excuses and found alternatives to travel to New York. I researched the most cost efficient ways to travel and where to stay in the big apple. I really wanted to share this because I was shocked by how cheap it can be to travel and hope it helps.

My story begins with how to get their. In my opinion a round trip ticket is a little pricey and yes I know if I prioritized and that thing called save I could just buy the ticket. However I don’t want to do that remember we’re looking for cheap alternatives and if I did save for that ticket I would become okay with paying that much which is not apart of the plan.

So we’re looking for cheap and I found it but we will need patience and a lot of it. We are going to bus it to New York! Seeing as it isn’t a straight shot I had to play with some routes and tweak numbers but we will get their. I live in Kansas City so I plan on riding the bus to Chicago and for only $1 and take the bus to New York for as little as $15! Granted that was the cheapest I could find so I definitely suggest being open with dates that way you can travel as cheap as possible.

Now, where to stay? I will opt in for a hostel because they are uber cheap and an awesome way to meet new people! I found hostels around $30 a night and as far as getting around the city I plan on walking or blending in with the locals on the subway. If needed I can hail a taxi but don’t really plan on it. When my trip comes to an end I plan on taking a one way flight since they’re about half the cost of a round trip ticket.

So there you have it my cheap plan to travel to New York. This will probably not be ideal for families but the solo travelers and young broke college students like myself! I encourage going with a group of friends to make the bus ride fun! I know I will since its 17 hours from Chicago to New York! If you have any suggestions please leave comments! I would love to hear from you! Xoxo

A Beginners Need for Travel

Over the last few months my desire to travel has TAKEN OVER ME! I wonder if it’s because I work for corporate america and realized how boring it is or maybe I just need a life long getaway.
Either way, In my attempt to cure my case of wanderlust I started reading travel blogs, city tour guides, even created a travel page on instagram. That only made me determined to visit someplace new whenever the opportunity approaches.

To add fuel to the fire I attended a course about traveling for free and learned tips on how to make money while away. I learned travel options I never new existed and that was all I needed to start my adventures! I’m excited to become a backpacker and besides I think it’s about time I started seeing the world.
